Detailed
Description
The pamphlet deals with the 1757 riot of the vintners and taverners in Oporto for which 26 persons were sentenced to death.

Of Jewish interest id the "Appendix" on pp. 28-31 in which the jurisdiction of the court which sentenced the rioters is justified by referring to the riot in Lisbon in 1506 in which some 3,000 recently converted Jews (Christaos Novos) were slaughtered. It contains the full text of the two historical letters of King Manuel to the four Councilors of State of April 19 and 27, 1506 as well as the Law which authorized the sentencing of some 100 pogromists to death.
