Description
The marriage of the groom Sholom b. Isaac with the bride Hannah b. Joseph (Ka'tz) on Friday, 23rd of Iyar 5673 (1913). Kettubah is set in an outer border of orange strips of paper affixed to large page. Page is divided into two sections with the text appearing in the lower. The upper is decorated with a pair of peacocks and floral motifs on the background of a familiar Islamic multifoil arch, outlined in blue. In the center is a flowering cypress tree flanked by two large lions, behind which the sun rises with alternating green and dark red rays. The symmetrical composition of the panel is enhanced by floral motifs in orange and blue, which decorate the yellow spandrels at the upper two corners as well.
