Description		    Responsa concerning the death and reburial of Jacob Akrish of Algiers who was suspected of having committed suicide. An earlier work, Kevod Ya 'akov (Izmir, 1892), brought to press by Jacob's brother Solomon de Joseph Akrish, with numerous responsa from leading rabbis addressed the issue. The responsa in Etem Kashot object to the reburial of Jacob Akrish of in a more distant location from the burial place of other Jews. This work begins by stating that the previous dayyanim were disrespectful to the dead (Jacob Akrish). The volume concludes with a eulogy for Jacob Akrish by R. Joseph Nissim ben Hayyim Jacob Burla (1828-1903). The title page is dated, כבוד שמו שאו "[And Joseph saw his brothers, and he knew them, but made himself strange to them, and spoke] roughly to them" (Genesis 42:7) = 1893.

Izmir (Smyrna) was one of the three Hebrew printing centers in the Ottoman Empire. Its first press was founded by Abraham b. Jedidiah Gabbbai in 1658. The De Shegora family press was founded in 1862 by Isaac Samuel de Shegora and associates. Operated by several members of the family, it was active until 1905, thus being the longest operating Hebrew press in Izmir.
