R. Isaac b. Asher Pacifici (d. 1746), was Chief Rabbi of Venice from 1698-1746. A member of a long line of distinguished rabbinical scholars, who dispatched Jewish law in many Italian cities for over 200 years. R. Pacifici's approbations appear in many works published during his lifetime including the saintly Ohr Ha'Hayyim of R. Hayyim ibn Attar. He was an important member of the rabbinate whose decisions was widely respcted and feared. His decree that anyone daring to read the writings of R. Moses Hayyim Luzzatto, the famous mystic of Padua, or have them in his possession would be excommunicated, was upheld throughout Italy. His respons appear in period literature and his children's works. The writings of were condemned and the Venetian rabbis, led by Isaac Pacifici,
