Broadsheet announcing the visit of the Admor of Vizhnitz, R. Israel Hager, to Jerusalem on Thursday, 13 Iyyar, 695 (May 16, 1935). The community of is invited to greet him at the train station at 7:00 P. M. The broadsheet is issued by R. Meir David for the Aggudat Yisrael Hassidim.
R. Israel ben Baruch Hager (1860–1937), kown as the Ahavat Yisrael, after his work by that name, received smicha from R. Berish Wiedenfeld of Sianiawa. R. Hager was appointed rabbi of Biodvall in 1855, but was forced to leave for opposing secular studies. He went to Vizhnitz, where he founded the yeshiva for advanced Talmudic studies, Bet Yisrael. Immensely popular, he was known for his warm greetings and even embracing visitors. He had a phenomenal memory and recited all of Tehillim daily before services. Among his other publications is Or Yisrael (1938).
