Shevah Hayyim begins with a portrait of the Moroccan zaddik, R. Hayyim Pinto, with two lions at the sides. Below is a list of R. Pinto’s ancestors. The title page, which follows, states that this book is a selection of the earlier deeds heard from sages. It is designed to draw Jews from mockers and idleness, which causes them to waste considerable time, but rather to the Lord. These tales of the righteous, of R. Hayyim Pinto, are published by R. Miclof bar Ya’ish Mazzel Turim. There is an introduction form the author R. Miclof, who emphasizes the mitzvah in telling over the deeds of the righteous. The text has 111 of these stories which recount the miracles of the sages, which are in Arabic in Hebrew letters. The next section of Shevah Hayyim are prayers to be said when visiting a cemetery.
Shevah Hayyim has its own title page is a collection of ethical sayings assembled by R. . Miclof. It is in Hebrew. The volume concludes with an index of the tales in Shevah Hayyim.
