Description		    Ladino commentary on the Azharot, a poem on the 613 commandments by the medieval poet, Solomon ibn Gabirol, and used as part of the Sephardic liturgy on Shavu'ot. This work is culled from Talmudic, later scholarly sources, and commentaries. It is one of only two eighteenth-century original scholarly works published in Ladino, the other being the Me'am Lo'ez. (Most eighteenth-century Ladino works of religion and philosophy were translations, not original works.) Indeed, on the title page, the book is compared to the Me'am Lo'ez. By comparing his work to the Me'am Lo'ez, Vilas sought to attract, readers and buyers for his book. But Vitas was not an opportunist, in fact, the nature of his work matched that of the' Me'am Lo'ez. Like the Me'am Lo'ez, it is a scholarly and a masterly-anthology of materials on the subject.

This is the only work issued by Shabtai Vilas. He was a student of Shlomo b. Avraham Algazi (1673-1762).
