Only edition limited to 200 copies. [9], 1-84, [1], 85-168 pp., quarto, 291:211 mm., wide margins, gilt edges, marble end papers, light age staining. A very good copy bound in the original brown leather boards with gilt lettering on front cover and spine, rubbed on corners.

Description
Hebrew and English text on opposing pages. Lettered by Harald Karlin, with illustrations by the same hand. Epic poem on the emergence of the Hebrew people based on the Torah and other Hebrew sources, but drawing as well on the mythology of the Tigris-Euphrates Valley. Readers familiar with the Epic of Gilgamesh will recognize the names of many ancient Babylonian and Sumerian gods and goddesses.
