Detailed Description |
|
Announcing the arrival of the Rebbe of Dej, R. Jacob Elimeleh b. Ezekiel Panet (1888-1944), to Jerusalem. The Rebbe was a ordained by R. Samuel Engel of Radimisel, at age 18. In 1926 he was appointed as Rosh Yeshiva in Dej and elected to the Rabbinical position in 1930. His appointment as President of the Kollel Zibenbergen prompted his visit to Erez Israel. He perished with his wife and children in the Holocaust.
Members of the Panet family served as rabbis of Dej from the beginning of the community's establishment to its end in the Holocaust.
