Description		    Bilingual piyyutim (liturgical poetry) for Pesah in Hebrew and Arabic. The text of the title page, set in an artistic frame, begins, “See, this is new” (Ecclesiastes 1:10). It notes that this work has not been printed for some time - it was printed previously in Leghorn in 1892 - and therefore is unavailable. Now, however, “All who see it will say, Sanctified” (ref. Rosh HaShanah 24a). With the help of the Lord I published it in Fez. I made a great effort to print it with vowels and accents but that proved impossible because they were lacking at the press. I have removed subject matter that is not necessary for Pesah. It is printed with large clear letters on good white paper. The translation, previously printed in small letters, is here in large letters to make it easy for children to use. It was brought to press by me, Aaron Attar, printer and bookseller in Fez.” The title page is dated “The Lord shall preserve you from all ה' ישמרך מכל (686=1926) evil” (Psalms 121:7).

These popular piyyutim are called Tzhir (or Tahir) in Morocco. The text is in alternating Hebrew and Arabic, the former in large square letters the latter in smaller but clear square letters. An attractive and rare volume of piyyutim.
