R. Abraham b Isaac Laniado (d. after 1619), biblical commentator, of Aleppo. In his youth Laniado studied in Safed, R. Joseph Caro being one of his teachers. After undergoing many hardships in this city he returned to Aleppo where he married the daughter of R. Samuel b. Abraham Laniado, who was apparently his uncle, and who provided for his support. R. Laniado was in Venice in 1603 and in that year saw to the publication of his father-in-law's work Keli Yekar, a commentary on the major prophets, and of his own work Magen Avraham, consisting of homilies. R. Laniado states that he also wrote a commentary to the Pentateuch entitled Torat Hesed, and to the Five Scrolls, the haftarot, Psalms, Proverbs, Job, and Daniel.

התרגום הארמי והתרגום ללאדינו נדפסו בדפים מיוחדים (עמודה ארמית מול עמודה לאדינו). נדפס, ברובו, דף עברית ודף תרגומים. התרגומים מקיפים את כל שיר השירים. הם מסתיימים בדף מז. משם ואילך נדפס רק טקסט עברי. דף יא חסר בכל הטפסים שראינו (ראה גם רוזנטל, יודע ספר מס' 1367). כנראה זו תוצאה של טעות בהדפסה: עובדי הדפוס בקשו לשמור על העקרון של דף אחד עברית ודף אחד תרגומים, ובגלל טעות כל-שהיא לא הוכן טכסט של תרגום בין דף י לדף יב (הדף החלק שנותר נתלש. כתוצאה מזה חסר בעותקים רבים גם דף י, שהוא בן-זוגו לגליון של דף יא). שומרי-הדף בסוף דף ט מוטעים: הם מכוונים לטכסט שבדף יז, אך הטכסט הממשיך את דף ט הוא בדף יג.
