Description
Enactments and regulations of the Ashkenaz community of Amsterdam. The title page has an ornamental border comprised of several rows of florets. The text states that it is the Takkanot of the Ashkenaz community, printed for the alufim, parnasim, kazinim, and gabbai zedakah (heads, officers, executives, and charity collectors), in order that, “you shall bless the people of Israel (Numbers 6:23). It is dated, “For you shall go out úöàå (497=1737) with joy, and be led forth with peace” (Isaiah 55:12). On the verso of the title page is a Proposal in Hebrew and below it the same text with the heading Announcement in Yiddish. The text of Takkanot is in Yiddish, set in Vaybertaytsh, a type generally, but not exclusively reserved for Yiddish books. Headings and initial words are in square Hebrew letters. There are one hundred two entries, concluding on 26a. The following pages (26b-27a) lists the names of the parnasim.The volume concludes with an listing (contents) of all the takkanot in the volume.
