Description		    Only edition. [12], 86 ff., octavo, 185:110 mm., old hand on title and in several margins, clean sheets. A very good copy bound in contemporary marbled paper boards, rubbed.
          
Paragraph 1    Inscription on the front leaf from the original owner, R. Moses ha-Levi, who received it as a gift from the author. There are two inscriptions, both in a very fine hand, on the title page, one also from R. Moses ha-Levi. Several pages have glosses to the text in the margins

Description		    On the soul and resurrection based on three responses of Hillel to converts (Shabbat 31). In it are explained the necessity, the existence of the neshamah, its qualities, the nefesh, ru’ah, neshamah, and in accordance with these subjects is explained the concept of recompense (gemul) according to the Rambam. Also addressed are the subject of free will and service of the Lord from love and reverence. There are approbations from R. Samuel, Av Beit Din and Rosh Mesivta, Amsterdam, R. Jacob, Av Bet Din, Lissa, and R. Abraham ben Gedaliah of Tektin. This is followed by verse by R. Hayyim Loewenstamm of Lissa and by R. Mordecai Loewenstamm, brothers of the author. There is an introduction by the author and then the text, which is comprised of thirty two chapters. Between the introduction and the text is a notice informing the readers about errors in the text that inevitably occur in printing and requesting that if they do find errors to check the errata at the end of the volume.

R. Abraham ben Aryeh Loeb ben Hayyim Loewenstamm was a scion of the Loewenstamm family, from which came many Dutch rabbis in the 18th-century. This R. Loewenstamm served as rabbi in Mezhirech and afterwards in Emden.
