Description		    Bar mizvah derashot by R. Menahem Zalmanovitch. The title page, with Yiddish text, except for the publisher’s name, states that the derashot are in Yiddish, English, and Hebrew. The text was organized by M. Stern. The table of contents lists 20 discourses. These are in Yiddish and Hebrew. The verso enumerates an additional twenty Hebrew bar mizvah derashot followed by ten derashot on halakhic subjects. The volume concludes with a three page listing of Yiddish books for sale with a brief description and prices followed by a lsiting of two Hebrew books, Shulhan Arukh le-Yeladim (40 cents) Toledot Yisrael, with illustrations and maps (25 cents). R. M. Zalmanovitch is described on the title page as [Moreh Zedek] in Vilna.

The 20 first derashot (Bar Mitzvah Speeches) have Yiddish and English on facing pages. While the contents of these discourses are not complex, they are interesting speeches reflecting the traditional approach of the times. The Hebrew discourses, in contrast, begin with a quote from the Talmud or Midrash. The halakhic discourses are deeper, dealing with questions such as whether the tefillah shel rosh can be changed for the tefillah shel yad (no. 5).

The volume is an interesting piece of American Judaica.
