Description |

Mizrach poster in the shape of the Menora of the holy Temple. In the center is a large breathtaking illustration of the Menorah of the holy Temple, while on the side is the caption: Hanukkah miracle with an illustration of an oil jug that is inscribed with: Matityahu Holy Priest. The upper portion reads: “Mizrach” surrounded by a magnificent border, and underneath are the blessings recited on the Hanukkah Menorah. Surrounding the Menorah are two pillars on top of illustrations of Zecharia the Prophet’s tomb and Rachel’s Tomb whilst above them is an illustration of two trees resting in large planters.
Underneath the illustration is printed: Published in the large and prominent press that was established in Zion by the publishers of the Levanon journal. Indeed in 1863 Yechiel Bri”ll Michel HaCohen & Joel Solomon established their publishing house that immediately began publishing the Levanon newspaper. The illustration of Zecharia’s tomb and the illustrated border surrounding the word “Mizrach” are identical to that which is published on the first title page of the work “Shevet Musar”, that was published by the aforementioned publishers that same year.

מזרח בצורת מנורת בית המקדש. במרכז ההדפס יש ציור גדול ומרשים של מנורת המקדש, ולצדה הכיתוב נס חנוכה עם ציור פך השמן ועליו הכיתוב מתתיהו כה"ג (כהן גדול). בחלק העליון בתוך מסגרת מפוארת מודפס: "מזרח", ומתחתיו ברכות הדלקת נר חנוכה. מסביב למנורה יש שני עמודים על ציורי קבר הנביא זכריה וקבר רחל, כשעליהם שני עצים בעציצים גדולים.
בשולי הציור נדפס: בדפוס הגדול והמשובח אשר הוקם בציון ע"י המוציאים לאור מכתב העתי הלבנון. ואכן בשנה זו תרכ"ג הקימו יחיאל ברי"ל מיכל הכהן ויואל משה סלומון את בית הדפוס שלהם בירושלים ומיד התחילו להוציא לאור את עתון הלבנון. ציור קבר זכריה הנביא והמסגרת המצוירת סביב המלה "מזרח" זהים לנדפס בשער הראשון של הספר שבט מוסר שהדפיסו המדפיסים הנ"ל באותה שנה. חשבון הגימטריא (על המנורה הטהורה) עולה לתרכ"ד, אולם מודפס גם "תרכ"ג".
