Description		    Rare work on prayers to be said at times of peril by R. David ben Judah Sabibi. The title page has a border made up of decorative florets, and informs that it was brought to press by R. Sabibi. The title, Mazil Nefashot, is from “[A true witness] saves lives” (Proverbs 14:25). The title page is dated with a chronogram derived from, “that you may live” (Deut. 4:1, Jeremiah 35:7, Amos 5:14). The censors permission to print is at the bottom of the page. The book is set in square vocalized letters, excepting the introduction by R. Sabibi, which is unvocalized. Mazil Nefashot is comprised of Tefillat ha-Yam of the Ramban (R. Moses ben Nahman), Tefillat ha-Derekh of the Ramban, a prayer to be said at a time of plague, Tefillat Yahid of R. Eleazer ha-Kalir, a prayer to be recited when the Torah is taken out, by a person sitting in prison, concluding with a supplication. The colophon give the date of completion as Friday, 8 Kislev in the year “[God has endowed me with]a good endowment אתי זבד (December 4, 1663)” (Genesis 30:20). This is a small attractive volume, not to be found in most major collections.

R. David Sabibi’s name also appears on the responsa Toldot Adam of the Rashba, as having brought that work to press (Leghorn, 1657).
