Concerning the establishment of several committees relating to the Zionist question. The letter was written during Weitzman's tenure in Manchester University.
Chaim Weitzman, first president of the State of Israel, president of the (World) Zionist Organization (1920–31 and 1935–46), and distinguished scientist. Those who knew him responded to the richness of his mind, his penetration, his subtlety, his wit. They speak in the same breath of his air of born aristocracy and of his earthy humanity. Above all, they recall, almost as a mystery, that he seemed to speak not for himself but for all Jews throughout their existence.
