[16], 12,17-49, 52, 70, 60, 22; [18], 4, 4, 9-56, 60, 52, 44, [2], 28, [4] leaves (incorrect pagination) ff., 169:105 mm., wide margins, usual light age and damp staining, old hands and stamps on title. Very good copies of two rare Hassidic works bound in modern half leather and marbled paper boards.

Description		    Sha’arei ha-Yihud ve-Emunah– five essays on kabbala; Sha’arei Avodah – five essays on kabbala called Avodat ha-Benonim.

R. Aaron b. Moses ha-Levi Hurwitz (c. 1766-1828) was the leading disciple of R. Shneur Zalman of Liady and served him for thirty years. After his rebbe’s death the author became Chassidic rebbe of Strashele, and many Lubavicher Chassidim became his followers. The book is based on the Sha’ar ha-Yihud ve-Emunah of the Likutei Amarim – Tanya. The author states in the preface that this work is not his own novellae but rather an explanation of the teachings of his rebbe.
