Description		    Novellae on Maimonides’ Mishneh Torah by R. David ben Samuel Muati. The title page has an attractive border about the text. The author informs that the Lord “put in my heart to write” that which went up in my heart, to comment on the words of the Rambam. R. Muati has entitled the work Levov David for “And David was the youngest (least)” (I Samuel 17:14). The title page is dated לפ"ג כתר תורה (5820=1860). The introduction follows and then the text, which is in two columns in rabbinic type, excepting headers and initial words. The subject matter covered includes matrimonial matters, divorce, yibbum and halitzah, na’arah besulah, Sotah, prohibited relationships, prohibited foods, and shehitah. The final page is verse in three columns, which has the header, “And David spoke to the Lord the words of this song in the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand” (II Samuel 22:1) of iron and his son from the sword. The volume is attractively printed on a clear fine paper.

R. Muati was also the author of Yad David, novellae on tractate Nidda (Alger, 1853); Yosif David, homilies (Leghorn, 1856); and Kiddushei David, novellae on Seder Kodshim (Leghorn, 1851).
