Description		    Derashot דרשות and eulogies by R. Hayyim Shonshal. The text of the title page is set in an attractive border comprised of decorative florets. It informs, in place of an introduction, that they are “‘sought out דרושים by all who love them’ (Psalms 111:2), ‘his lips like lilies, liquid myrrh’ (Song of Songs 5:13) and cassia.” They are “‘set upon sockets of fine gold’ (Song of Songs 5:15) with many types of delights (lit. deserts and appetizers תרגימה ופרפראות) for wisdom for the reader to comprehend.” It further informs that the title, Simhah le-Ish, is an anagram for, “From me, the youth, Hayyim Shonshal, let the heart rejoice . . .” The title page is dated with a chronogram from the verse “A man has joy in the answer of his mouth; and a word spoken in due season, how good it is!” (Proverbs 15:23). This text was prepared by R. Raphael Hiyya Pontrimioli.
