Description |

Chassidic customs.
The author, R. Zechariah Mendel b. Moses Joshua of Jaroslaw (circa 1720-1795) studied under his uncles, the brothers R. Shmelke of Nikolsburg and R. Pinchas Horowitz (author of the HaHafla’a), and was a main disciple of R. Elimelech of Lyzhansk. After R. Elimelech’s passing, he helped his son R. Elazar publish the work Noam Elimelech in Lemberg in 1788. On the final leaf of the Noam Elimelech is a letter from R. Elimelech asking the author not to afflict himself excessively. |
