Description
Announcement concerning the republication of ha-Me’assaf (not to be confused with the earlier haskalah journal of that name published in Europe). The announcement is headed by a statement saying that it is from the ge’onim and gedolim of the times to make known throughout the land of Israel. It is in honor of R. Benzion Abraham ÷åàéð÷ä Rosh Ave Bet Din in Jerusalem of the Sephardim. The Announcment is signed at the bottom by R. Hayyim Moses Elyashar Rosh Rabbanim Jerusalem. The text states that it is with great pleasure that they inform that ha-Me’assaf will reappear, shining its light as before. Ha-Me’assaf had appeared previously for nineteen years on a monthly basis, and all rabbinic sages, in all places, practically without exception, were pleased to except it. The text concludes with R. Elyashar urging everyone to accept it as in the past, and with his blessing that it “shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season” (Psalms 1:3) and in all that they do they should prosper.
