Detailed
Description		    Novellae within a multi-part work by R. Zevi ben Elijah Gutmacher. The title page, with a decorative frame, informs that Nahalat Zevi was brought to press by R. Meir Weinstein. The following page informs that Nahalat Zevi is in four parts. They are Nahalat Zevi, which begins with an introduction from the author and then addresses “in a brief but thorough manner” the relationships discussed in tractate Yevamot and Keritot. This part (2-28) is accompanied by numerous detailed charts illustrating and clarifying the various complex relationships addressed in the tractate as well as accompanying text. Foliation begins again with the next part which is comprised of an introduction and detailed commentary on tractate Kinnim. The text is in the middle with the commentary on the sides and comprehensive glosses on the bottom of the page. This part also has accompanying diagrams. Next is Zaphenath-Paneah, elucidating the memre of R. Rabbah bar bar Hannah on tractate Bava Batra, perek ha-Sefinah. The fourth part, Shalom be-Familia shel Ma’aliah, is meant to resolve contradictions between the Shulhan Arukh and its commentators. These last two parts were written by R. Elijah Gutmacher, the author’s father, who also wrote the last two introductions. Bound with the volume is an index to the ma’amrim in Zaphenath-Paneah.
