Detailed
Description
Large square quarto, unpaginated, but approximately 1" thick and with 541 powerful numbered photographs printed in gravure, plus approximately 40 pages of accompanying text, indices, etc. Text in Polish with no accompanying translation. A chilling photographic documentary of the Polish front of World War II, with a particular emphasis on the extermination of Polish Jewry. Photograph after photograph of scenes of Nazi brutality, with very little held back. There are many photos taken in the various Ghettos, such as Warsaw and Bialystok, showing the building of the ghetto walls, the destruction of Jewish businesses, the forced displays of the Star of David, the firing squads, etc. There are also many photos of the resistance leaders along with the usual pictures of the Nazi officials and the German occupation forces, together with reproductions of flyers, handbills, and posters. A heartbreaking depiction of an unspeakable crime.
