Addressed to R. David Arye concerning the engagement of the Rebbe's son, R. Abraham Naphtali.
R. Zev Wolf b. Naphtali Zvi (c. 1755-1823), little is known of his parents and his early childhood. At the age of eight he was introduced to the Maggid of Mesrich and became one of his main disciples. His colleagues included R. Meshullim Faivish of Zabrov, R. Meshullim Zusia of Honipole, R. Baruch of Mezibez, R. Abraham Joshua Heschel of Apta, R. Zvi Hirsch of Nadvorna, R. Asher of Stolin, R. Abraham of Kalisk, R. Mordehai of Kremnitz, R. Zvi Hirsch Segal of Harka. In turn, R. Zev Wolf's disciples were the cream of the Hassidic Rebbes including such luminaries as R. Menahem Mendel of Kosov, author of the Ahavat Shalom. The Rebbe emigrated to Tiberias in 1795 where he spent the last 25 years of his life and is interred. |
