Detailed
Description
Flyer Calling for an Increase in Religious Obserance at a Time of Troubles, protesting British activity and Jewish religious laxity in Erez Israel. It begins, “Bnei Zion, Listen attentively! At this time of darkness and troubles for the Jewish people.” In language it notes that there are troubles without and the generation places its hopes on offerings to false symbols. The announcement of the British on the new settlements in our land, attempting to sever our everlasting tie with this land, and with all of this the people do not search their deeds nor inquire as to the reasons for all of this. We, Bnei Jerusalem, who are zealous for the Lord and Israel, arise and announce before all, that it is by chance due to the hand of God. “We are not punished for being Jews but for not being complete Jews!” It calls on the Jewish people to awake from their sleep and purify themselves as before. It further notes the ongoing decline in religious life. It continues in this vein in more detail, noting that not all the people are Jews, not all torahs are Torat Israel, nor are all lands Erez Israel. From this day on they will stand in the breach.
