R. Ezekiel Sharaga b. Isaacher Dov Lipschutz-Halberstam (1908-1994), grandson of R. Shalom Halberstam, Rebbe of Stropkov. In a long and illustrious life the Rebbe, a survivor of several concentration camps, held several prestigious rabbinical positions. An erudite, ordained, rabbinical scholar he served in several Rabbinical posts prior to becoming Rebbe in 1954. He wrote many scholarly works including: Kutras Divrei Yechezkel (Bomberg 1948) on the preference of Erez Israel to all other lands; Divrei Yechezkel Shraga (Israel 1956) scholarly work on the Hazon Ish; Commentary on Haggadah (Israel 1956); Mahne le-Am (Israel 1957) on Maimonides; Divrei Yechezkel Shraga (Israel 1959) scholarly work on the laws of Shemita (seventh year of rest); Divrei Yechezkel Batra (1964) Hassidic commentary on the Pentateuch and Holidays. |
