Facinating reading! An important collection of essays and reviews by the Foreign Secretary of the London Society For Promoting Christianity Amongst The Jews, with a valuable 'Historical Survey of the Foreign Missionary Stations' operated by the Society. The highly competent binding, of good 'West End' standard, was produced at the Operative Jewish Converts Institution in the East End. This Institution had been founded in 1831 for Jewish 'refugees' to Christianity who were given board and lodging and were taught the trades of Printing and Bookbinding. This is the only signed example of their work we have encountered and there is no reference to them in Packer's Bookbinders of Victorian London, (1991).
