Letter to R. Abraham Shor, Chief of the Bet Din in Jerusalem, concerning an estranged husband in Israel and associated finances.
R. Alter Saul b. Israel Elimeleh Pfeffer (1874-1936) was born near Cracow and studied in noted Galician academies. He immigrated to the United States in 1912 and was immediately accepted by the Bet ha-Medresh ha-Gadol as rabbi, where he served until his passing. R. Pfeffer was a distinguished member of the Agudat Harabonim of the United States, a vice president of Ezrat Torah, and Chairman of the New York Board of Rabbis. He was a founding member of the Gedola Moazot Hatorah.
His erudite scholarship is evident in the works he authored. Avnei Zikuron (3 volumes) contains numerous responsa to the greatest rabbis of the generation in many complicated area of Halacha. |
