Detailed
Description
Le battaglie d'Israelle. Istoria ed osseruazioni by Luigi Manzin of bologna (1604-57). This copy, lacking the title page, begins with Manzoni’s dedication of the work to Padrone Colendissimo. It has a decorative strip at the top of the page and the text begins with a large historiated letter. Le battaglie d'Israelle is divided into six books, each beginning with the same type of decorations, although dissimilar in content. The text is printed on a fine white paper in a single column. Le battaglie d'Israelle concludes with a list of errata. The front endpaper has the title and author name copied in a fine hand.

Manzoni’s other works include Le tvrbolenze d'Israele seguite sotto'l gouerno di duo ré, Selevco . . . (Venice, 1633); Applavsi festivi fatti in Roma per l'elezzione di Ferdinando III (Rome, 1637); Il Principe ecclesiastico (Bologna, 1644), and La via lattea, alla maestà dellá sereniss. republica di Genova, panegirico, etc. (Bologna, 1648). The printer, Giacomo Sarzina, was active in Venice from 1611-1641. His device appears at the bottom of the last text page.
