Detailed
Description
Second part of Maimonides’ (R. Moses ben Maimon, Rambam) Sefer ha-Madah, dealing with ethical issues. This edition, printed on quality paper in an attractive square font, is accompanied by a translation into Yiddish by R. Shimon Isaac Lazaron, son of the Rav and Av Bet Din of R. Wolf Heidenheim. The title page is dated Sivan 592 (1832). There is a dedication page to R. Saul ben Lazer from his grandson. The front cover has a diamond in the center with the name, in gold, Siegfried, Seeligmaan. The original wrappers are present, although the front wrapper is detached. The text of Hilkhot De’ot is on the top of the page, the translation below on the bottom of the page.

The seven chapters in Hilkhot De’ot address in great detail the laws and regulations of human conduct. Subject matter encompasses imitating God, loving one’s fellow man and converts, not to hate or embarrass others, be a tale bearer, or to be vengeful.
