Detailed
Description
Commentary on Maimonides’ Mishneh Torah by R. Manoah of Narbonne. The topics covered are hilkhot hamez and matzah (2a-27a), hilkhot shofar (27b-32b), Yom Kippur (33a-38b); Sukkah and lulav (38b-56b). The title page has an ornamental frame, and dates the beginning of work to11 Tamuz 678 (Sunday, July 10, 1718). Perushim ve-Hiddushim al ha-Rambam is often referred to as Sefer ha-Manoah or Sefer ha-Menuhah. It is frequently quoted by R. Joseph Caro in his Beit Yosef and Kesef Mishneh. Among the features of Perushim ve-Hiddushim al ha-Rambam are the explanation of difficult terms, arrangement of scattered halakhot, and the clear elucidation of concepts. Little is known about R. Manoah of Narbonne (end of 13th and first half of 14th century), except that he was a student of Meir ben Simeon ha-Me’ili and R. Reuben ben Hayyim.
