Description		    Important polemic work relating to the argument over the validity of the Zionist movement in the first decade of the twentieth century. Ha-Zioniyot, reputedly by ha-gaon י. ד. י. (Judah Leib ben Hayyim Don Yehiyya), explains the viewpoint of true religious Zionism and the reasons for opposition to the secular movement. Ha-Zioniyot begins with two questions, the first as to whether the secular view of the settlement of the Holy Land with the assistance of the nations fulfills the hope of Israel, and the understanding of the redemption? Secondly, if not, is it possible that from the religious perspective that it is the beginning of the redemption, that the settlement of the Jews in the Holy Land will be in the manner mentioned, and afterwards a redeemer will come to Zion and then the prophecies will be fulfilled? He responds to the first question negatively and then goes on to explain how the true redemption will occur.

The second part of the pamphlet is a response to the arguments in the first part by H. Ben-Zion Wolner, brought to press by the organization, Sha’arei Zion. Wolner speaks with great respect of the author of the first part, referring to him as ha-Admor מל-טש, R. Shalom Dov Baer Schneersohn of Lubavich (c. 1840-1908), the son of R. Judah Leib Schneersohn. The back cover lists books for sale.

שמו של המחבר נקבע על-פי ספרו "בכורי יהודה", חלק ב עמ' 10. על ה"מלואים" שהם של המחבר, עיין: הרב י"ל הכהן פישמן [מימון], סיני, כרך י תש"ב, עמ' קמה - קן.
