Description		    Collection of the writings, tales, wonders, and Torah of R. Israel Ba’al Shem Tov, founder of the Hasidic movement. The book is in two parts, the first part with two title pages. The first title page has a decorative frame and, in red and blue ink, states that it's contents have been selected from all the available works, from the students and the students of the students of R. Israel ben Eliezer and ben Sarah Ba’al Shem Tov. All the Torah, sayings, ethics, tales, correspondence in the books of zaddikim in his name with commentaries, holy allusions, and desirable discourses. The compiler’s name is given as Judah called Leib Abraham. On the verso is the disavowal of any reference to modern day non-Jews in the use of terms such as akum and nocri followed by a prohibition against unauthorized reprinting of the work.

The second title page, entirely in black ink, states that Midrash Ribash Tov, an acronym for the sayings, discourses, allusions, and talks of Rabbenu Israel Ba’al Shem Tov, contains, in the first part, about three hundred entries. The second part, first in excellence, is about a third of what is found by him (the compiler) in the various writings on the Ba’al Shem Tov. There are approbations from the leading Hasidic rabbis of the time, R. Israel Abraham Alter Landau, R. Mordecai Leib Winkler, R. Isaiah Silberstein, R. Naphtali Titlebaum, R. Shalom Eliezer Halberstam, and R. Israel Hager. There is an introduction from the compiler (7-16) and the text, which is in a single column in square letters. The second part has its own title page. Entries in both parts begin with the name of the source for the entry. The second part is organized by ethical subject matter. The inner cover has an owner’s stamp, and the first end paper has the same owner’s signature in both Hebrew and Latin letters, that is, Judah Melber of Berlin.
