Detailed Description |
|
Invitation to daughter's wedding.
R. Saul Benjamin ha-Kohen Karelitz emigrated to Erez Israel in 1857 where he was appointed head of the Talmud Torah Etz Hayyim. When he acquired a new plot for the Yeshiva and recorded the deed on his wife's name the community took up arms and pens - polemics were created and the battle waged. His association with R Akiva Joseph Schlesinger was fodder for several latter battles. He passed on during a trip overseas. |
