Description		    First edition of this commentary on the pehsat of the Torah according to the insights of Hassidut by R. Itamar ben Israel Wohlgelerenter of Konskowola (d. 1831). The title page has a decorative frame and informs that the text was copied from a holy manuscript and brought to press by the author’s son, R. Hayyim Moses Isaac. There are approbations from leading rabbis, R. Isaiah Muscat of Prague; R. Joseph Saul ha-Levi Nathanson; R. Schneur Zalman Fradkin of Lublin; R. Judah Leib Eger, and R. Zadok ha-Kohen. Next is an introduction from the R. Itamar’s son and then the text. Mishmeret Itamar is set in two columns in rabbinic type, excepting headers and initial words. There is a small owner’s stamp on the title page and repeated several times in the book.

R. Itamar ben Israel Wohlgelerenter of Konskowola (d. 1831) was a student of R. Jacob Isaac of ha-Hozeh of Lublin (1745–1815), R. Israel ha-Maggid of Kosnitz, and R. Jacob Isaac ben Asher Przysucha (Pshiskhah, ha-Yehudi ha-Kadosh, 1766–1814). R. Ithamar was known as a prodigious scholar. Many hassidic stories recount how he gave charity even in difficult times and about the depth and fervor of his prayers.
