Description
A Jewish perspective on the relationship between the Bible and science in Italian from Professor Daniele Pergola. There is a half-title page and a full title page, the latter describing it as La Bibbia e la Scienza ossia Il Culto Israelitico nelle sue Origini e nelle sue Vicende (The Bible and Science: that is, the Jewish Cult, its Origins and its Vicissitudes). Prof. Pergola is described as Professore Approvato in Lettere Italiane, Lingua Francese e Liongua Inglese Allevio del Collegio Rabbinico di Livorno, that is, professor of languages at the Rabbinical College in Livorno (Leghorn). There is an introduction from the author and then the text, which begins with a quote from Dante. La Bibbia e la Scienza is comprised of twenty-six chapters and concludes with errata. Among Prof. Pergola’s other works are La Religione universale conciliabile con tutti i culti e il sacerdozio (1879) and Difesa personale ossia risposta ad una sfuriata rabbinica (Turin, 1880). La Bibbia e la Scienza comes with its original wrappers.
