Description		    Expositions of the aggadot of the Jerusalem Talmud. In the preface the Author explains that it was his aim to interpret the aggadot of the Jerusalem Talmud "because they are very similar to the aggadot of the Midrash Rabbah in style and in language".

R. Samuel b. Isaac Jaffe (d. late 16th century), was rabbi of the Ashkenazi community of Constantinople. He studied under R. Joseph Leib. When he reached an advanced age, his son Joseph was appointed to succeed him. R. Jaffe's fame rests upon his comprehensive commentary to the whole of Midrash Rabbah, which reveals an extensive knowledge of the relevant literature.

          
Paragraph 2    ... חברו... ר' שמואל יפה אשכנזי נר"ו... בק"ק קושטנטינה, פירושים וחדושים על אגדות מירושלמי [עם הפנים]... והוגה... על יד... ר' יוסף סאמיגה... דף ב,א: "הסכמתי להביא פירושם [של האגדות שבמדרש רבה, שפורשו בספרו "יפה תואר"] גם בספר הזה... כי בכמה מקומות נמצא חלוף בנסחת האגדה... ועל פיהן ישתנה הפירוש".
