Marriage contract Dr. Georg (Gershon) Jellinek and Camilla (Esther) Wertheim on Tuesday, the 13th of Tamuz [5]643 in Vienna. Camilla was the daughter of a professor at the University of Vienna and converted to Judaism. Her name is given as Esther b. Abraham (patriarch).
Georg Jellinek (1851–1911) was born in Leipzig. Jellinek was professor of jurisprudence at Vienna, Basle, and Heidelberg universities. He was an authority on constitutional law, his books being principally concerned with the relationship between the state and the individual. They include Gesetz und Verordnung (1887) and System des subjektiven oeffentlichen Rechtes (1892). Among his other works are Das Recht des modernen Staates (1900) and Ausgewaehlte Schriften (2 vols., 1911). |
