Eulogies by R. Elias Karpeles. The volume begins with a half title page, flowed by two full facing title pages. The first states that it is Gelegenheits=Predigten jüdischer kanzelredner part three (Occasional sermons by Jewish pulpit orators). Grabreden für alle Wochenabschnitte des Jahhres (Eulogies for all the weekly readings of the year). The second title page repeats this information. There is a forward from R. Examples of the contents are Der Morgen und Abend des Lebens (Morning and evening of life) on áøàùéú; Die Lebensgeschichte des Frommen (the biography [life history] of the pious one) ðç; Die würdiger Trauer (dignified mourning) çéé ùøä; Israel und die Sterne (Israel and the stars) ùîåú; Die Friedensliebe (the love of peace) éúøå; Der Opfertod (Sacrifical death) öå; Israels hoffnung (Israel’s hope) ÷øç; and Der Lohn des Lebens (the wages of Life) øàä. At the end of the volume are three pages listing other volumes of sermons. The first is volume one of R. Karpeles’ wedding sermons, second confirmation sermons from R. Jacob Freund, and last occasional sermons from Dr. M. Silberstein. The text is in a single column in German in Fraktur with occasional Hebrew. The front end-paper has the stamp of Hochmuth Abraham veszpremi rabbi Hagyateka and the last title page has a stamp from a previous rabbinic owner.
