Description
Antonio Perez (1539-1611), Marrano lawyer, for some years the first favourite, confidant and Secretary of State of Philip II of Spain and afterwards for many more the object of his unrelenting hostility. Perez fell into disvafour, was pursued for high treason and fled to Saragossa. Its inhabitants protected him by force of arms and he succeeded to escape. Philip however, sent out his army to punish Aragon.
