Description		    A Dissertation on the Civil Government of the Hebrews, in which the true designs, and nature of their Government are explained; the justice, wisdom and goodness of the Mosaical Constitutions are vindicated: in particular from some late, unfair and false representations of them [by T. Morgan] in the Moral Philosopher. Second edition.. To which is added an Appendix ... and considerations on the Rev. Mr. Foster's Discourse of the Jewish Theocracy.

The author was a non-conformist divine, born in London, who studied theology at Leyden and Utrecht. “... Lowman was chiefly learned in Jewish antiquities, and his reputation rests on his ‘dissertation on the Civil Government of the Hebrews’ written in 1740..... in answer to Morgan’s ‘Moral Philosopher’, and said to have been approved by Dr. Sherlock and other church-men.”
