Description		    Only edition. [5], 133 ff., 308:187 mm., wide margins, on heavy gloss paper, light age staining. A very good copy bound in contemporary half leather and marbled paper boards, rubbed.

Description		    Responsa on Hoshen Mishpat, Even ha-Ezer, and Yoreh De’ah by R. Hayyim ben Moses Toledano. The title page has a decorative frame that is printed in red ink, as is the title and date. The text states that it is responsa on the above parts of the Shulhan Arukh, issued in response to queries to resolve disputes “between every man and his brother” (Deuteronomy 1:16). The title page notes other works by R. Toledano, that is, Ez ha-Da’at, novellae on shass; and Ez ha-Hayyim, on the Arba’ah Turim, not yet published and by the author’s children. Hok ve-Mishpat was published due to the efforts of R. Raphael Baruch ben Jacob Toledano (1892–1971), son of the renowned R. Jacob Toledano. The title page is dated, “The Lord of hosts is with us ה'' צ'ב'א'ו'ת' ע'מ'נ'ו' (691=1931)” (Psalms 46:8, 121). There are several full page approbations, two with decorative frames, one in red, introductions, and a list of the contributors who made publication possible. At the bottom of the second page of this list is a depiction of a ship powered by both steam and sails. The volume concludes with a comprehensive index of the responsa. The text is in two columns in rabbinic type excepting headers and initial words which are in square letters.
