Description |

Responsa on Shulhan Arukh Orah Hayyim and Even Ha-Ezer by R. Mordecai ben David Guedj. Magen David was published by Elijah Guedj, nephew of the author. The title page is dated, “he executed the justice of the Lord, and his judgments with Israel עם ישראל (451 = 1891)” (Deuteronomy 33:21). The verso of the title page has a wreath with a dedicatory text with the name of Abraham Geudj at the bottom. The name in the text has been entered by hand and apparently could be filled in by the purchaser. There is a four page introduction in which each paragraph begins with Magen and concludes with David. Orah Hayyim is comprised of six detailed responsa (ff. 1a-17b) and Even Ha-Ezer has twenty one responsa (18a-94a). At the end is an index of the responsa. The text is in two columns in rabbinic type excepting headers and initial words which are in square letters. |
