Description |

Commentary on the weekly parshiot by R. Joseph Benjamin Ze’ev Wolf ben Aryeh Judah Leib (c. 1660-1729). The author was rabbi and av bet din in Shinov; his father was rabbi and av bet din in Sokal and author of Livyat Hen. R. Joseph Benjamin Ze’ev Wolf was the son-in-law of R. Hanokh Henekh of Zolkiew. The title page, with a decorative frame and dated from the verse, “For the commandment is a lamp; and the Torah is light” (Proverbs 6:23), informs that Or Yekarot had been printed previously by the compiler R. Bezalel ha-Levi ben Judah together Livyat Hen but is now being printed separately because of the great demand for Or Yekarot. The verso of the title page has an introduction from the compiler R. Bezalel ha-Levi. The text follows, in two columns in square letters. The style of Or Yekarot is very sharp and makes frequent use of Midrashim. |
