Description		    Discourses and commentary on the Zohar by R. Nathan ben Reuven David Tevel Shapira. The title page, with a decorative frame, states that it is a work on the Zohar and the writing so the Ari, written by the great kabbalist, R. Nathan Spira author of Mazzot Shemurim. The manuscript was found in the library of the kabbalist, R. Solomon of Sefad, author of Ateret Shelomo. It was copied formn the manuscript which was in a Sephardic script in order that it be printed. The Lord aroused the spirit of his son R. Joseph who brought it to light for the public good. The title page restates that it was brought to press by R. Joseph ben Solomon of Safed and is dated “the blessings of goodness ברכות טוב (645=1885)” (Psalms 21:4). The title page has publication information and the date 1884, indicating that it was published between September to December. Torat Natan has nine approbations, several signed by as many as three rabbis, most from Sefad or other cities in Erez Israel, but also some from Europe, such as R. Solomon Haberstam of Vishnitz. Torat Natan is followed by Ateret Shelomo, noted above, and concludes with Sha’arei Hayyim, a selection from Rav Hai Gaon’s ha-Mikkah ve-ha-Mimkar. All the signatories are prominent and distinguished. The text is in two columns in rabbinic type, excepting headers and initial words which are in square letters.
