Description		    First edition. [2], 40 ff., 214:177 mm., nicve margins, usual ligh age staining, expert reparirs to ff. 31, 39-40 affecting single letters. A very good copy of a very rare Hasidic work bound in modern full leather boards, tooled in blind.

Description		    Collection of Hasidic sayings and teachings by the founders of the movement: R. Israel Ba'al Shem Tov, the Besht; R. Dov Baer, the Maggid of Mezhirech; R. Menahem Mendel of Peremyshlany; R. Jehiel Michel of Zloczow, the Maggid Meisharim of Yampol. An early Hasidic work, it contains many of the teachings of the movement and was widely studied by disciples.

Appropriately, the work was published by the well-known press of many early Hasidic imprints. Rappaport published the first edition of the Noam Elimeleh, the first Hasidic and kabbalistic siddur among many others. Books published by him have great importance and are highly valued by Hasidim as it is reputed that members of the "36 righteous men" were employed in this press.

בספר נדפסו גם שתי איגרות של ר' משולם פייבוש העלער מזבאריז', בעילום שמו (דף יט,ב-לא,א). בתוך האיגרות (בדף כא,א) נאמר: "חסר כאן". האיגרות נדפסו אחר כך בשלימותן בהוצאות [אוסטרהא תק"ף] ולעמברג 1857 ובספרו של ר' משולם פייבוש "יושר דברי אמת", מונקאטש תרס"ה. וווייס סבור שכל הספר נערך על-ידי ר' משולם פייבוש או בפקודתו. בהסכמות נאמר שהובא לדפוס על-ידי ר' שמואל ב"ר יהודה ליב סג"ל.
