Description		    Collected prayers, segulot, and medications to obtain remedies for sins and illnesses by R. Benajamin Beinish ben Judah Leib ha-Kohen. The title page states that it this is the day that those who hope and desire, tremble for the word of the Lord (cf. Isaiah 66:4) for the printing of Shem Tov Katan, small in size but of great value and benefit who find in this work tikkunei tefillt. For the holy people, the children of Israel, who trust in the Lord of Hosts. These tikkunim (corrections) and prayers are for the yamim noraim and three festivals, which are particularly propitious times for delivery from decrees and other punitive occurences. Through prayers, segulot, and remedies we can achieve salvation from every satan, accuser, and negative occurrences. The prayers and segulot in Shem Tov Katan have been assembled from various mystics, and from the works of the Ari and from the Ramban. The compiler is R. Benjamin Beinish ben Judah Leib ha-Kohen of Krotschin. The title page is dated from the verse, “good name is better than precious ointment” (Ecclesiastes 7:1). There are approbations from R. Mordecai ben Abraham of Lissa, and R. Naphtali Hertz ben Zev Wolff, followed by the author’s introduction. The tefillot and segulot within the text are given by name, for example, the first tefilla is from R. Yishma’el Kohen Gadol. The tefilot have headings that tell when they should be said, both by time of year and occasion.
