Discourses on five she’elot asked by earlier sages, roshei mesiftot, by R. Zevi ben Moses Plato, morei zedek of the orthodox kahal Adat Yeshurun in cologne on the Rhine. The verso of the title page has the introduction, which consists of three lines, asking to be excused for errors. These are learned discourses by a Talmudic scholar. The first query is a ditch that is ten tefachim deep and four tefachim wide that has been closed for a length of fourteen amot, what is its status for zurat ha-pesach. The last discourse is on whether there is a true reshus ha-Rabbim in our times or not. The text is in a single column in square unvocalized letters. The volume concludes with a page of errata.
Dr. Plato was the rabbi of the Orthodox congregation Adat Yeshurun in cologne. He headed the seminary for teachers, founded at Düsseldorf in 1867, and transferred to Cologne in 1876. He was the grandfather of R. Samson Rafael Hirsch. |
