Detailed Description:

A letter in Yiddish to members of Cong. Tzemach Tzedek of Brooklyn from Dovber Chaskind (know as Berel Chaskind), the secretary of Agudas Chasidei Chabad, and the father-in-law of Barry Gourary, the grandson of R. Yosef Yitzchak, the previous Lubavitcher Rebbe.

In the letter, he mentions that some members of the Congreagation had gotten together with a plan to modernize the shul, and to fire the Rabbi (who was in in his twelfth year there and with whom most members seem to be satisfied).

The Lubavitcher Rebbe, R. Yosef Yitzchak had written a letter to the members of the shul in which he praised the many positive attributes of the Rabbi and he had personally requested in the letter that they should continue with this Rabbi.

The letter from R. Chaskind continues saying that the members do not want to bring embarrassment on their shul, nor would they want a Rabbi with a family to be left without a way to make a living.

The letter concludes saying that he is sure that the Rebbe's blessings will be fulfilled and that in the merit of keeping the honor of the Torah ....they will merit a salvation for all of Israel.

Agudas Chassidei Chabad is the umbrella organization for the worldwide Chabad-Lubavitch movement. It administers the three central Chabad Lubavitch offices: Machneh Israel, Merkos L'Inyonei Chinuch, and the Kehot Publication Society. Agudas Chasidei Chabad was established by the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Schneersohn in 1923. In 1940, upon his arrival in the United States, he assumed the role of President and in 1941, upon the arrival of his son-in-law, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, he appointed him as executive chairman. Its initial purpose was to "unify the Chasidim (adherents) of Chabad; to establish ordinances in every Chabad synagogue concerning the communal study of Chasidus... To establish Cheders for children and with God-fearing teachers. To establish Yeshivot for students to learn, from whom Torah may spread forth... and to support the organizations founded by the previous (Chabad) Rebbes." After the passing of Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Schneersohn in 1950, his son-in-law, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson succeeded him as President of Agudas Chassidei Chabad. Since then, Agudas Chassidei Chabad has served as the umbrella organization for the Chabad Lubavitch movement.
